FYFA Recap: “Pulling for Miriam!” Fundraiser
Face Your Fears Athletics proudly participated in Pulling for Miriam, a
fundraiser to support Miriam Alvarado. Our 10-person team placed 3rd at
2:32:28 after rowing a marathon, or 42,195 meters.
Miriam is a member of the CrossFit community, a police officer, and a single
mother of four who is currently fighting cancer. CrossFit SCV organized
the event to raise money to support Miriam and her family while she undergoes
treatment and takes the needed time off of work. In all more than 16 teams
raised over $17,000 for her family.

What Is Barbells for Boobs?
Barbells for Boobs is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing
mammograms to individuals who cannot afford it and / or have been denied
the service by their insurance, usually due to the fact that they are
under 40 years old. However, 7% of those diagnosed with breast cancer
are younger than 40 years old.
Early detection is often a key to survival. No one should be denied a breast
cancer screening – men and women alike.
“Everyone Has the RIGHT to Know™” if they are living
with breast cancer.
